Mi-a venit și mie rândul să văd lăudatul film al lui Wes Anderson – The Grand Budapest Hotel și, drept să spun, am rămas cu impresia că a fost neîndreptățit anul acesta la Oscar-uri. Nu spun că Birdman nu e bun, este excelent, dar producția de față este atât de plină de savoare, umor de calitate, adrenalină, decoruri superbe și actori de primă
mână, încât e greu de crezut că n-a luat Oscar-ul pentru cel mai bun film. Motivul se datorează probabil genului în care se încadrează: văzând că e comedie, unii poate n-au luat-o în serios și nu au avut răbdare să pătrundă mai adânc înțelesul unei povești excelente, cu nuanțe polițiste, psihologice și, desigur, ceva romantism. Filmul ăsta te distrează, te pune pe gânduri, te ține în suspans și te cucerește prin legătura a doi oameni ce ajung să fie mai mult decât prieteni. Zero și dl. Gustave ajung să fie ca o familie, căci se sprijină și se ajută indiferent de situație.
Acțiunea se petrece în fictiva republică Zubrowka (numele unei mărci de votcă din Polonia), unde hotelul Grand Budapest este renumit și mereu plin până la refuz. Ce anume este atât de atractiv la acest hotel, pare să se întrebe Zero, noul hamal. Nu durează mult până-și dă seama că multă lume vine pentru dl. Gustave, administratorul, care face o treabă excelentă în a conduce acest resort elegant. Jucat de un Ralph Fiennes încântător (prima variantă pentru rol fusese Johnny Depp), domnul Gustave îl ia sub aripa sa pe Zero, pe care-l educă și instruiește în mod constant. Relația celor doi evoluează de la simplul stadiu subaltern-superior la o legătură strânsă, ca între camarazi, care-i scoate din belele de multe ori. Pentru că, odată cu moartea unei cliente foarte dragi, domnul Gustave (cu gusturi… speciale în materie de femei) începe să atragă problemele ca un magnet.
Mentorul lui Zero nu apare decât după primele 10 minute din film, timp în care suntem trecuți cu rapiditate de la o perioadă la alta, căci povestea domnului Gustave e trecută prin vreo 3 filtre înainte să ajungă pe ecran cu adevărat. Acest procedeu al povestirii în ramă punctează la capitolul originalitate, deoarece nu e o singură persoană cea care povestește totul, ci toată istorisirea e reluată apoi de un scriitor, care ulterior o expune în cartea sa. Parcă asiști la adevărate călătorii în timp, impresie pe care ți-o induce și raportul de aspect al filmului, care diferă în funcție de perioada expusă. Astfel, perioada interbelică a anilor ’30, cea din 1968 și cea din 1985 au fost filmate utilizând 3 raporturi diferite: 1.37, 1.85 și 2.35:1. Până și din acest punct de vedere filmul este foarte complex, nu-i de mirare că aceasta a fost producția cu care Wes Anderson a spart gheața la Oscar-uri.
Când vezi prea mulți fotbaliști extraordinari într-o echipă, te temi că se vor eclipsa unul pe altul. Dar dacă într-un film știi exact cum să împarți rolurile unei pleiade de actori fantastici, nu numai că riscul de a se eclipsa unul pe altul dispare, dar parcă strălucirea unuia o completează pe a altuia. Filmul ăsta ne propune o serie de actori nemaipomeniți, 4 câștigători (Adrien Brody, Fisher Stevens, Tilda Swinton și F. Murray Abraham) și 11 nominalizați la Oscar (Ralph Fiennes, Saoirse Ronan, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Bob Balaban, Harvey Keitel, Willem Dafoe și Tom Wilkinson). Așa că nu vă mirați dacă personajele vor fi memorabile, oricât de scurte vor fi fost aparițiile; uimitor este că rolul cu cel mai mare impact (cel puțin pentru mine) vine din partea unui tinerel de 18 ani pe care nu l-am mai văzut până acum: Tony Revolori, în rolul indispensabilului Zero.
Inspirându-se din scrierile lui Stefan Zweig, Wes Anderson (pe care eu îl știam grație animației Fantastic Mr. Fox și filmului Moonrise Kingdom) a creat o poveste de neuitat, plină de momente haioase și scene tensionate. Amestecul de film polițist și comedie este extrem de reușit, ca dovadă încasările uriașe ale producției, cele mai mari de până acum pentru un film semnat Wes Anderson. Hotel Grand Budapest a fost filmul independent cu cele mai mari încasări din 2014. Impresionant, nu? Sunt atâtea amănunte care contează în această poveste de vis, care îi dau o notă specială și greu de uitat, totul e construit cu atâta migală încât nu știi despre ce să vorbești mai întâi, îți fug ideile în toate direcțiile. Pe cât de mult m-a ținut în priză povestea și m-a înveselit, pe atât de mult m-a emoționat lecția despre prietenie dată de Zero și dl. Gustave.
Dar asemenea evenimente nu ar fi avut același efect asupra celor care privesc filmul dacă nu ar fi existat cadrele și decorurile absolut splendide. Atâta simetrie, culoare, rafinament, îți îmbată pur și simplu simțurile. E o adevărată plăcere din punct de vedere vizual să te răsfeți cu un asemenea film. Toată povestea este spusă într-un mod extrem de senin și voios, dar ascunde multe înțelesuri profunde, despre viață, iubire, prietenie, devotament. Și despre povești în general. Edward Norton se poate considera norocos, căci el a avut roluri semnificative în producțiile cu cele mai multe nominalizări de anul acesta, 9: Birdman și The Grand Budapest Hotel. Mi-a plăcut filmul ăsta cap coadă, dar Zero și aleasa lui m-au impresionat cel mai mult. Agatha e pur și simplu adorabilă, până și semnul din naștere pe care-l are pe față, ce seamănă cu forma Mexicului, o face să pară simpatică.
Ar cam trebui să închei, dar vă mai spun ceva: producția asta excelează inclusiv la capitolul muzică. Când îl ai pe Alexandre Desplat la cârmă, e imposibil să nu-ți iasă o coloană sonoră perfectă. Nu degeaba a fost nominalizat de 2 ori la aceeași categorie în același an acest compozitor, pentru contribuția sa la The Imitation Game și The Grand Budapest Hotel. A luat Oscar-ul pentru filmul de față (pentru o comedie, e totuși o performanță), oricum ambele soundtrack-uri sunt geniale și pe repeat de când le-am auzit. Cel mai mult îmi place cum se aude aici balalaica, instrumentul rusesc pe care, odată ce-l veți auzi, îl veți îndrăgi instantaneu.
