Pentru Toți Banii din Lume este un film bazat pe fapte reale regizat de Ridley Scott la care am stat înmărmurit pe durata vizionării de la Grand Cinema. Drama se lansează în cinematografe prin intermediul Vertical Entertainment începând cu 2 februarie.
Un film inspirat din fapte reale, petrecut în anii 70, „Pentru toți banii din lume” urmărește felul în care a fost tratată răpirea tânărului John Paul Getty al III-lea (Charlie Plummer), urmașul unui bogataş ciudat, a cărui salvare depinde de puterea de convingere a mamei lui, Gail (Michelle Williams). Unica soluție pe care o are Gail la dispoziție este să-l convingă pe bunicul Getty (Christopher Plummer) să plătească răscumpărarea de 17 milioane de dolari. N-ar trebui să fie un efort prea mare pentru cel mai bogat om din lume, nu-i așa? Însă spre șocul tuturor, bătrânul refuză. Din acel moment, mama disperată face tot ce-i stă în putință să-l convingă sau să găsească alte soluții, colaborând cu Fletcher Chace (Mark Wahlberg), omul de încredere al bătrânului Getty.
(maniera în care e realizat trailerul nu-i dă deloc dreptate filmului, aproape că e paralel cu filmul)
Christopher Plummer a câștigat Globul de Aur și este nominalizat și la Oscar pentru interpretarea controversatului miliardar J. Paul Getty. Întrebarea e, oare Kevin Spacey ar fi avut același succes? Scandalul din jurul său a condus la înlocuirea sa cu Plummer de către echipa de producție. Mă întrebam pe parcursul filmului cum ar fi arătat Spacey în diverse scene și dacă ajung două săptămâni de filmare pentru filmările refăcute. Am constatat că două săptămâni sunt absolut suficiente, pentru asemenea echipă, chiar dacă scenele lui J.P. Getty sunt numeroase. Și mi-am mai dat seama că dacă Spacey rămânea în film, atât de recent după scandalul controversat, filmul ar fi riscat să nu fie apreciat la propria valoare, chiar dacă interpretarea era reușită.
Interpretarea lui Plummer chiar este una reușită, dar trebuie să le recunosc meritele regizorului, directorului de imagine și compozitorului. Au fost momente în care rămăsesem înmărmurit de deciziile pe care Getty le lua în privința nepoului său răpit. Nonșalanța cu care trata subiectul și cu care spunea că nu are destui bani cât să se simtă stabil financiar, ține de un talent special.
Nu pot să spun că am fost șocat dar am stat oricum cu gura căscată și pe parcursul unor scene realiste în care tânărul Getty este brutalizat de către răpitorii săi, după luni de captivitate. Însiși bandiții începeau să creadă la un moment dat că nimeni nu va plăti vreo răscumpărare. În mod deosebit mi-a plăcut personajul Cinquanta (Romain Duris), mai exact evoluția sa de la răpitor rece la cineva căruia îi păsa mai mult de siguranța băiatului decât de banii pe care aștepta să-i primească în schimbul său. Devine absolut indignat față de lipsa de acțiune a familiei Getty. Iar ca restul planetei, nu o crede nici pe biata Gail că vrea să facă tot ce-i stă în putință să-și salveze fiul.
Apropo de Gail, și Michelle Williams joacă din suflet. Personajul ei îți arată cum e sa te simți de parcă toată populația este împotriva ta, inclusiv propria familie nu te ajută. Dintre toate personajele, cel mai dureros este să te pui în pielea ei. Bineînțeles, cetățenii de rând nu o cred că nu are bani la dispoziție deși este divorțată și ruptă de familia Getty, având grijă singură de copiii ei. Aparent, pentru cei de rând, nici ei nu-i pasă așa mult de fiul ei, însă ea este de fapt cât de stăpână pe sine ar fi cu putință, ținând lacrimile în ea pentru a se concentra pe ce trebuie făcut.
Chase este un negociator calculat care la început face asta de dragul banilor, dar ajunge să vrea să-l salveze pe nepotul angajatorului său pentru ca asta este drept, văzând cu claritate într-un final cotele la care ajung nebunia și lăcomia care curg prin sângele Getty. Lui Mark Wahlberg îi șade mai bine în asemenea roluri serioase decât în comedii de acțiune à la Transformers, cred eu.
Și la fel de bine îi stă lui Ridley Scott la cârma regizorală a unor astfel de filme. Este încă un regizor capabil, doar că ar trebui să renunțe la francize vechi și la SF, să ofere seria Alien altcuiva și să facă mai multe filme de epocă. Eventual să continue pe cât posibil colaborarea cu Dariusz Wolski, directorul de imagine, și Daniel Pemberton, compozitorul. Fără ei doi regia lui Scott nu ar fi avut același efect satisfăcător. Paleta de culori folosită, rece în conacul Getty și caldă în flashback-ul din Arabia, ilustrează imagini demne de nominalizări. Și mă repet, fără muzica compusă special, realizez că nu aș fi simțit până în oase gravitatea unor replici și decizii ale miliardarului.
„Pentru toți banii din lume” nu merită chiar toți banii din lumea, dar un bilet la cinema da. Februarie se anunță a fi o lună mixtă, cu finaluri de trilogii mediocre ca Fifty Shades, primul film blockbuster de anul acesta Black Panther, dar și alte filme de artă precum cel de față și, într-un final și la noi, The Shape of Water. Dacă biografiile dramatice )sau cu umor= sunt pentru tine şi nu te-ai săturat după Disaster Artist şi Darkest Hour, All the Money in the World s-ar putea să fie chiar mai interesant pentru tine.
