Festivalul Filmului European revine cu ediția 29! Proiecțiile vor avea loc începând cu 8 mai în București, urmate de ediții locale speciale în nouă orașe din România: Botoșani, Brașov, Chitila, Deva, Iași, Sfântu Gheorghe, Târgu Jiu, Târgu Mureș și Timișoara, marcând un record în ceea ce privește numărul de orașe în care festivalul va fi prezent.
Festivalul Filmului European este organizat de Institutul Cultural Român, cu sprijinul Reprezentanței Comisiei Europene în România, EUNIC România și UCIN – Uniunea Cineaștilor din România, în parteneriat cu ambasadele, centrele și institutele culturale europene.
În București, Festivalul se desfășoară între 8 – 18 mai, la Sala Luceafărul (Gala de deschidere, pe 8 mai), Cinema Elvire Popesco (9 – 15 mai) și Cinemateca Eforie (9 – 11 și 16 – 18 mai).
Programul va continua astfel:

Chitila: 30 mai – 1 iunie, Amfiteatrul din Parcul Valea Mangului
Târgu Jiu: 30 mai – 1 iunie, Cinema Sergiu Nicolaescu
„Suntem prezenți, în acest an, în cel mai mare număr de orașe la care ne-am încumetat vreodată să ajungem simultan: zece! Perseverăm în această ambiție de a răspândi cât mai mult generosul mesaj „Cultura unește”, perfect aliniat cu spiritul european și de mare actualitate în aceste zile. Festivalul nostru se afirmă, încă o dată, ca un instrument esențial în confirmarea unității europene prin artă. Într-o Europă asediată de incertitudini, filmul devine un far esențial, și, dincolo de escapism, se poate transforma într-o oglindă curajoasă a realității. Cinematografia europeană a cultivat întotdeauna poveștile diverse și vocile autentice, fără să dea înapoi în fața fricilor, crizelor și provocărilor de tot felul. Așteptăm verdictul cinefililor din cele 10 orașe, în speranța că, venind la film, în luna mai, în preajma Zilei Europei, se vor simți solidari cu această comunitate unită prin valori, vise și aspirații asemănătoare.” a spus Liviu Jicman, președinte al ICR și al EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture).
Ediția 2025 a Festivalului Filmului European, curatoriată de criticul de film Cătălin Olaru, reunește peste 40 de lungmetraje, din care 28 prezentate în premieră națională, și două selecții de scurtmetraje, proiectate de asemenea în premieră națională. Printre acestea se numără 11 documentare, 13 filme regizate de femei și două filme coregizate de femei.
„În cele zece orașe, vor fi prezente în selecția FFE filme recompensate la cele mai importante festivaluri la nivel mondial. Vorbim de „A Sudden Glimpse to Deeper Things” (r. Mark Cousins, cel mai bun film la Karlovy Vary), de „Toxic” (r. Saulė Bliuvaitė, cel mai bun film la Locarno) sau de „1489” (r. Shoghakat Vardanyan, cel mai bun film la IDFA, cel mai mare festival de film documentar din lume). Dar și de „Des Teufels Bad / Devil’s Bath” (r. Veronika Franz și Severin Fiala, Ursul de Argint acordat în 2024 directorului de imagine Martin Gschlacht), „El llanto / The Wailing” (r. Pedro Martín Calero, premiul pentru Cel mai bun regizor la San Sebastian) sau „Mond / Moon” (r. Kurdwin Ayub, Premiul Special al Juriului la Locarno).
Dincolo de premii, sunt filme care deschid perspective și aduc mai multă înțelegere, fie că vorbim de victimele războiului din Nagorno-Karabakh, de marginalii cineastului francez Virgil Vernier, căruia îi dedicăm un portret, de victimele colonialismului din filmele Margaridei Cardoso, invitată a festivalului, sau de angajații exploatați până la dezumanizare din „Youth (Homecoming)” și „Youth (Hard Times)” ale lui Wang Bing. La FFE, mai mult decât un instrument înainte de toate vizual de recompunere a lumii, filmul îndeplinește o funcție vitală, aceea de desțelenire a empatiei.” a declarat Cătălin Olaru, directorul artistic al FFE.
Programul complet va fi anunțat în curând. În București și Timișoara biletele vor putea fi achiziționate online, pe platforma Eventbook.ro și direct din cinematografe, iar în restul orașelor accesul este gratuit.
