Primul Alien, cel din 1979, cred că a fost unul dintre primele filme care au băgat frica în mine tare de tot. La fel și Predator. Mă uit ca o maniacă la thrillere și filme horror, dar nimic nu mă sperie mai tare decât oamenii care pot fi mai răi decât orice altă năpastă și extratereștrii ăștia urâți cu draci din seria Alien. Deși seria originală n-am mai văzut-o de ceva vreme, doar Prometheus fiind vizionat mai recent, am mers plină de curiozitate la Alien: Covenant, pentru că voiam să-mi confirm bănuielile cu privire la modul în care au fost create aceste vietăți mortale.
Acțiunea pornește într-un ritm alert, echipajul de pe Covenant se confruntă cu probleme și pierderi încă de la început, astfel încât personajele rămase sunt din prima vulnerabile. Deși mi-a plăcut să-i revăd pe Katherine Waterston și Michael Fassbender, doi actori foarte versatili, în afara celor doi și a lui Tennessee (Danny McBride) și Karine (Carmen Ejogo), ceilalți membri ai echipajului m-au lăsat rece. Așa se întâmplă când vrei să bagi de toate în poveste ca să-i mulțumești pe toți: toate națiile și toate tipurile de cupluri – nimeni nu mai e dezvoltat complet.
Înțeleg că orice echipaj trebuie să aibă un număr cât de cât ridicat de membri, nava aia nu se dirijează/repară singură, dar când ai prea multe personaje, publicul n-are timp să rezoneze cu toate, să le înțeleagă pe toate. Decât superficial schițate, mai bine deloc. Revenind la poveste, pot să spun că acesta este cel mai interesant aspect al filmului – dialoguri bine scrise, răsturnări de situație și informații interesante despre ce s-a întâmplat cu David și Elizabeth din prima parte. Desigur, totul e asezonat cu micile clișee de rigoare.
Ai fi crezut că după atâția ani de evoluție, oamenii au învățat să nu se mai aventureze singuri în noapte, să nu se despartă când sunt în grupuri și să nu mai creadă în noroc și întâmplare. Dacă-i prea frumos să fie adevărat, ia-ți rămas-bun de la planetă și cară-te mai repede! Deși nu a avut o notă filosofică la fel de puternică precum prima parte, conexiunile cu filmul precedent le-au permis scenariștilor să se aventureze încă o dată în sfera întrebărilor despre creație. Cine suntem? Cine ne-a creat? Suntem și noi dumnezei pentru că am creat androizii?
Spre deosebire de prima parte, de data aceasta extratereștrii temuți apar în mai multe scene și sunt mai grotești ca niciodată, Scott nu a făcut rabat de la cadre morbide și s-a jucat cu nervii publicului cât a putut de mult. Cel puțin în prima parte a filmului, tensiunea te strivește, pentru că știi ce baie de sânge urmează și totuși nu poți să faci nimic să o împiedici. Nu poți decât să te întorci cu coada între picioare la realitatea ta, compătimindu-i pe cei la care ai strigat în timpul filmului: „Nu intra acolo singur, geniule!!”
Deși se încearcă unele mici glumițe care să mai relaxeze atmosfera, acestea eșuează lamentabil în fața pericolelor care pândesc în umbre. Nici rapiditatea cu care se mișcă uneori camera, pentru a surprinde scenele de luptă, nu m-a dat pe spate, fiindcă totul pare neclar la început, deja s-a terminat faza până te lămurești tu ce s-a întâmplat de fapt. Mi-a plăcut tonul întunecat al filmului, însă, aerul sumbru al poveștii se simte și la nivel de culori, ești împovărat de imensitatea obiectelor, de întunericul de pretutindeni, de ploaia care cade încăpățânată și pune bețe în roate echipajului de pe Covenant. Pustietatea în care aterizează numai frumoasă nu poate fi. Păcat că nu-l ascultă nimeni pe Toma Necredinciosul, fiindcă asta i-ar fi scutit pe mulți de o moarte oribilă. Dar dacă n-ar fi, nu s-ar mai povesti, nu?
Per total, Alien: Covenant mi-a plăcut mai mult decât prima parte fiindcă oferă mai multe răspunsuri, mai multă acțiune, un android dat naibii (jucat de înspăimântător de credibilul Fassbender) și confruntări neașteptate. Sunt extrem de curioasă ce vor mai inventa în partea a treia, pentru a păstra conceptul dezvăluit în prima parte și dezvoltat în partea a doua. Până atunci, Odeon Film te invită la cinema începând cu data de 12 mai. Nu ai voie să ratezi cea mai nouă parte din seria de sequel-uri plănuite de Ridley Scott.
