Având în vedere că pe data de 10 aprilie se lansează continuarea acestui film intitulată Strada Cloverfield 10, m-am gândit să revăd prima parte care ştiu că nu mi-a plăcut. Cloverfield, tradus la noi Monstruos, e un film SF regizat de Matt Reeves după un scenariu scris de Drew Goddard. J.J. Abrams e producătorul acestui film şi filmul s-a lansat în cinematografe pe 15 februarie 2008. Pe unii i-a suprins mod plăcut, alții au fost dezgustați. Eu fac parte din ultima categorie. Dar toată lumea l-a lăudat și am vrut să văd și eu ce e de capul lui. Așa că… Atunci când am găsit DVD-ul cu 5 lei l-am luat să văd și eu ce e de capul lui, mai ales că nu mi-a plăcut trailer-ul și modul de filmare.
Ceea ce urmează să vedem e ceea ce s-a înregistart pe un card digital SD recuperat de Ministerul Apărării SUA la locul incidentului „US-447”, zonă cunoscută anterior drept „Parcul Central”. Acest card a fost catagolat dept documentul nr. USGX-8810-B467, care prezintă apariţii multiple ale cazului denumit „Câmpul de trifoi”. Prezentul e 22 mai iar acțiunea oscilează între trecut și prezent .
Cu o noapte înainte plecării în Japonia, Rob vede petrecerea de rămas-bun organizată de cunoscuţii săi ca şi o ocazie de a rezolva lucrurile rămase nelămurite până în acel moment. Un alt prieten, Hud a fost desemnat să înregistreze petrecerea cu o cameră digitală, sarcină pe care o îndeplineşte ca un amator. Planurile însă îi sunt date peste cap atunci când petrecăreţii sunt zdruncinaţi puternic de ceea ce pare a fi un cutremur. Mulţimea este redusă la tăcere şi urmăreşte ştirile privitoare la cutremur, după care se îndreaptă spre acoperiş pentru a evalua pagubele produse oraşului. O minge de foc explodează în depărtare, urmată de o pană de curent. Confuzia se transformă treptat în panică, pe măsură ce tinerii se îmbulzesc prin întuneric pe străzi. Printre ţipetele umane şi un urlet nepământean, Rob şi prietenii săi trebuie să traverseze oraşul metamorfozat peste noapte într-un loc nefamiliar pentru că ceva sau cineva monstrous a pus stăpânire pe New York… Începe lupta pentru supravieţuire.
Pentru a imprima filmului un carter mai intim s-a optat ca din distribuţie să facă parte un grup de actori tineri:
Michael Stahl-David e Rob;
Odette Yustan e Beth, prietena lui Rob. Ea fost aleasă pentru că se potrivea perfect cu Michael Stahl-David;
TJ Miller e Hud prietenul de nădejde pe care te poţi baza. E un tip trăsnit şi iubit de grupul de prieteni. E prima dată când îl văd pe TJ Miller într-un rol serios, acesta fiind un actor de comedie. În timpul audiţiilor, directorul de casting a încurcat materialele şi i-a dat lui Miller un monolog lung şi serios. Miller s-a relaxat şi a început să citească un monolog nostim şi mult mai scurt;
Jessica Lucas e Lily Ford, cea care e în permanenţă stăpână pe situaţie.
În Cloverfield, un monstru de 26 de etaje face prăpăd prin New York. Cel mai dificil pentru realizatori a fost crearea monstrului. Cel mai dificil a fost implementarea prăbuşirea clădirilor în cadrele tremurate luate cu camera de mână. Multe secvenţe din acest film au fost filmate cadru cu cadru. Pentru distrugera podului Brooklyn de coada monstrului s-a realizat un pod la sacră micşorată care a fost construit în platou, înconjurat de un ecran verde de 360 grade pentru a putea realiza efectele speciale. Chiar clădirile care se prăbuşesc în acest film sunt mai vechi, încercand să evite emoţiile de tip 11 septembrie 2001.
Matt Reeves spunea: „Ce m-a interesat a fost provocarea de a filma ceva gigantic la un nivel intim, de a inregistra ceva extraordinar, dar absurd – atacul unui monstru- si de a relata asta intr-un mod cat mai realist.” Ideea lui Abrams de a vedea monstrul prin lentila camerei lui Hud, necesita o stabilire exactă a relațiilor în cadrul grupului. După stabilirea relațiilor dintre membrii grupului apare monstrul care face prăpăd. Pentru a fi interesant, Reeves a introdus și povestea de dragoste dintre Rob și Beth. Hud filmează peste o înregistrare mai veche a unor momente intime dintre cei doi, totul apărând pe fundalul unui mic love-story.
Cloverfield nu e rău ca scenariu dar m-a enervat și acum la culme modul de filmare. S-a filmat cu camera de mână și monstul nu apuci să-l vezi în toată splendoarea lui decât la final. Tocmai aparența de amatorism pe care trebuia s-o aibă înregistrarea lui Hud a dat bătăi de cap echipei. Pentru a rezolva această situație actorul T.J. Miller s-a oferit să filmeze el însuși acele secvențe. Actorul chiar declara: „N-am fost doar un actor. Am fost cameraman, dar și un comentator.”
Filmarea monstrului a presupus o strategie: el este aratat gradat, mai întâi stăfulgerări, frânturi de imagini. În cea mai mare parte dintre scene, monstrul este filmat de la nivelul solului. O imagine mai intimă a monstrului apare atunci când Hud este atacat de el, apărând detalii ale gurii enorme.
Cinstit Strada Cloverfield 10 mi se pare mult mai interesant din trailer datorită schimbării stilului de filmare. Din cauza acestui stil de filmare nu mi-a plăcut nici seria Paranormal activity.
În România Cloverfield s-a lansat pe DVD și blu-ray. La elemente speciale puteți urmări cum a fost realizat filmul, cum au fost realizate efectele vizuale, scene șterese, finaluri alternative și multe altele subtitrate în limba română.
