Am așteptat filmul ăsta ca pe Moș Crăciun, fiind o mare fană a lui Ridley Scott și, mai ales, a lui Christian Bale, număram zilele până când avea să fie lansată această producție, cu speranța că va deveni rapid unul dintre filmele mele preferate. Ridley Scott are un palmares impresionant, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Matchstick Men, Black Hawk Down, G.I. Jane sau Hannibal, astea-s doar câteva dintre filmele lui pe care eu le-am adorat; deci mă simțeam foarte îndreptățită să-mi fac speranțe mari, pentru că știam ce talent zace în omul ăsta. Ieri, ocazia mult așteptată a venit și am văzut filmul în avanpremieră la Grand Cinema & More, în Băneasa. Cei de la Odeon Film au mers probabil pe același raționament când au decis să aducă și la noi Exodus. Și au avut dreptate, bine au făcut, oferind românilor ocazia să vadă pe ecrane imense cam cât de bine pot juca Christian Bale și Joel Edgerton și cam ce viziune a avut regizorul cu privire la mitul biblic. Cum mi-a plăcut Noah tocmai pentru că regizorul și-a permis să pună accentul pe om, și nu pe Dumnezeu, pe trăirile și chinul celui ales să salveze lumea, dar nu pe toată, mă așteptam ca în cazul acesta, povestea să fie la fel de grozavă la nivel de personaj principal și psihologia acestuia. Și a fost, nu spun că nu, mi-a plăcut Bale la nebunie – să fim serioși, un tip care poate juca în American Psycho, The Prestige, The Machinist sau seria Batman are mult prea mult talent ca s-o dea în bară, indiferent de rol. Dar parcă filmul a durat prea mult, iar confruntarea mult așteptată dintre Ramses și Moise nici măcar nu are loc (scuze pentru spoiler, dar n-am ce-i face). Toată acțiunea pare să construiască încet un pod către o bătălie fenomenală, pentru ca la final, toți să fie luați de ape.
O surpriză extrem de plăcută a fost Joel Edgerton, cel care joacă rolul lui Ramses. Deși îl știam deja din The Great Gatsby și Warrior (2 filme superbe, recomand), chiar m-a luat prin surprindere forța personajului său și credibilitatea pe care i-a oferit-o. Făcând un rol atât de bun, a reușit să se ridice la nivelul colegului său mai popular, ba chiar l-a eclipsat uneori. E o părere subiectivă, bineînțeles, dar interpretarea lui chiar mi s-a părut ireproșabilă, cei 2 antagoniști sunt miezul poveștii și era normal ca rolurile să fie de nota 10. Ca în Noah (Christian Bale trebuia inițial să joace rolul lui Noe, dar până la urmă actorul ales a fost Russell Crowe, un colaborator foarte apreciat de Ridley Scott), se pun iar în discuție credința, sacrificiile pe care le face un om pentru a asculta de o forță superioară, puterea de a spune NU! atunci când tunetul îți urlă DA! și, mai ales, legitimitatea religiei. Ramses pune punctul pe i atunci când, aducând pruncul mort la picioarele lui Moise, îi aruncă în față credința într-un zeu crud care ucide copii. Moise însă îi răspunde că niciun copil evreu n-a avut această soartă și astfel apare o problemă spinoasă: dacă toți suntem egali în ochii Lui, de ce sunt totuși evreii copiii preferați? Nu vreau să intru în polemici, mi-am mai exprimat părerea cu privire la Biblie (pe care am citit-o în mare parte, deci știu ce spun, spre deosebire de creștinii înfocați care n-au citit un verset în viața lor). Îmi place însă abordarea lui Ridley Scott, la fel cum mi-a plăcut și a lui Aronofsky.
Scott reușește să ofere publicului reacțiile și sentimentele unui om de bun-simț, care nu vrea să-i sacrifice pe alții pentru binele alor săi, cel puțin, nu pe cei nevinovați. Mi s-a părut genială ideea de a pune un copil să-l interpreteze pe Dumnezeu (sau pe mesagerul său, depinde de interpretare), felul în care acesta se înverșunează să pedepsească oamenii buni și răi, de-a valma, este exact atitudinea unui copil orgolios, conștient de propriile puteri. Regizorul se declară agnostic și mărturisește că asta l-a ajutat să facă filmul, pentru că a trebuit să realizeze o poveste credibilă, care să-i convingă pe cinefili, dar și pe el. Într-un interviu, acesta a explicat părerea sa despre religie, pe care o consideră sursa cea mai mare a răului, pentru că în numele ei, oamenii se distrug unii pe alții deși, în fond, toți venerează aceeași entitate. Contrastul ironic pe care-l subliniază în interviu este bine redat în film, unde Moise însuși este foarte sceptic, ba chiar ateu, la început. Multe replici punctează nedreptatea săvârșită în numele religiei și acuză fanatismul, mai mult sau mai puțin voalat, de aceea povestea merită văzută măcar o dată. Deși finalul pe mine nu m-a cucerit, nu regret deloc vizionarea acestei noi interpretări a mitului biblic.
Scenariul, munca a 4 oameni: Adam Cooper, Bill Collage, Jeffrey Caine și Steven Zaillian, pune în valoarea personajele, credința și mândria lor, dar apogeul prezis parcă de la început nu mai are loc. Și asta m-a nemulțumit, mi s-a părut că finalul a fost prea sec pentru desfășurarea de forțe de la început și prea deschis (s-or gândi oare la o continuare?) pentru o poveste în care o confruntare părea iminentă. Firul poveștii este pe îndelete depănat, vedem cum stătea situația când Seti era încă în viață (tatăl lui Ramses), ce relație aveau cei 2 prieteni: totul indică o schimbare bruscă de statut, încă de la primele cadre și de la profeția nefastă. Apoi are loc o scenă de luptă excelent construită vizual, în care egiptenii atacă hitiții, dar aproape își pierd viitorul conducător. Atunci se rupe firul, când fiul faraonului simte că există cineva mai potrivit decât el: Moise. Se vede clar că Ramses duce o luptă interioară, își iubește prietenul și are încredere în el, dar se teme. Are și de ce. Relația se distruge încet încet, culminând cu un exil. De aici încolo filmul capătă un ritm mai lent, a cărui acțiune totuși gradată, din ce în ce mai promițătoare, te duce cu gândul la un final de poveste. Dar… nu. O să vedeți cu ochii voștri, nu vă mai spun nimic legat de asta.
Moise e un personaj atent creionat, scenariștii având grijă să-i evidențieze natura generoasă și spiritul obiectiv și rațional (cel puțin la început). Omul ăsta salvează tot ce poate, întâi pe Ramses, apoi pe Miriam, apoi un întreg popor, al său. Cu riscul de a nu-și mai vedea familia, pleacă la drum în numele unui zeu căruia îi negase existența. Mi-a plăcut transformarea lui pentru că nu s-a preschimbat într-un fanatic, tot ce făcea era cu gândul la binele altora. El are curajul să se opună ideilor lui Dumnezeu, înțelege că vocea sa trebuie să se facă auzită nu doar în numele Lui, ci și al propriei sale conștiințe, își permite luxul de a obosi, de a încerca să dea înapoi, de a nu asculta orbește. Deși m-am identificat cu el mai mult la început, am simpatizat personajul de-a lungul întregului film. Aș putea să mai vorbesc puțin de personajele secundare (soția lui Moise, preoteasa lui Seti sau faraonul însuși, de personajul lui Ben Kingsley, Nun, a cărui apariție scurtă schimbă viața lui Moise), dar niciunul n-a ieșit prea mult în evidență, în afară de Joshua (Aaron Paul), ce pare a fi urmașul lui Moise și pe care m-am bucurat să-l revăd, mi se făcuse dor de el.
Scenariul mi-a satisfăcut așteptările în proporție de 80 – 90%, dar am fost foarte mulțumită de alte aspecte ale filmului. Dacă de actori deja am zis că-s cea mai reușită parte a filmului, aș fi nedreaptă să nu-i ofer cezarului ce-i al cezarului: regizorul are un aport extraordinar, dacă el n-ar fi știut cum să-i pună în scenă, cum să-i prindă în cadre, oferindu-ne astfel un spectacol vizual, totul ar fi fost degeaba. Rămâi fascinat de scenele de luptă, de marea care înghite egiptenii, dar și pe… nu vă spun! Viziunea regizorală este foarte bine transpusă, camera se plimbă atât de frumos de la un chip la altul, astfel încât de la început se anunță conflictul filmului: primul cadru – prim-plan Moise, al doilea, Ramses. Filmul a fost 3D și pentru prima oară, mă declar mulțumită de această inovație. Probabil totul a depins de efectele vizuale foarte reușite ale filmului, invaziile de broaște și lăcuste fiind foarte atractive, la nivel vizual vorbind. Mi-a plăcut tare mult cum încercau să-și explice egiptenii toate acele fenomene nefirești (râul de sânge, broaștele, lăcustele), chiar mi s-a părut un exemplu potrivit de oameni care fac orice să privească lumea rațional, nelăsând nimic la voia întâmplării sau a unui zeu pe care nu-l acceptă.
Ce să mai spun de muzică? Alberto Iglesias, cel care s-a ocupat și de coloana sonoră din The skin i live in sau Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (alte 2 filme pe care vi le recomand), a făcut o treabă excelentă, ți se face pielea de găină din primele minute, când se aude o melodie ca o doină, ceva de jale, care te pune în gardă: vezi că ce se întâmplă aici va da naștere nu doar unui râu de sânge, ci și unuia de lacrimi. Piesele sunt superbe, le-am ascultat iar pe youtube și parcă sunt în transă, vă las aici melodia celor de la Coldplay – Midnight, să trăiți măcar un pic senzațiile celor care au văzut filmul aseară, poate vă hotărâți să-l și vizionați la cinema:

Super. Pacat ca n-am unde sa-l vad. Cinema City Romanaia, cei care au cele mai multe sali de cinema din Romania, nu-l distribuie in cinematorafele lor. Asa ca n-am unde sa-l vad 🙁 Din punctul meu de vedere, chiar daca sunt cei mai dezvoltati, isi bat joc de cinefili. Si cinefilii ce fac?! Ii rasplatesc mergand la cinema. Pe bune?! Haideti sa-i boicatam. Sa invete sa nu-si bata joc de noi. Dar din pacate e imposbil. De ce?! Pentru ca in Timisoara doar ei aduc filmele noi la cinema. Cinemartograful Timis este varza. Dar macar de la jumatatea lunii la ianuarie se va redeschide cinematograful in Resita. Daca aduc filemle noi, cu siguranta nu voi mai calca in cinematograful Cinema City din Timisoara. De vazut poate voi ocazia sa-l vad la Resita, daca nu astept pana prin aprilie cand se va lansa pe BD3D. 🙁
