Din celelalte scene ne dăm seama că sunt mai multe personaje care au motive să creadă că sunt vinovate de moartea unui om, care aparent este nevinovat. Însă ceea ce am remarcat este că aceste persoane nu se simt cu adevărat vinovate, chiar dacă ajung la un moment dat să fie sigure că ele l-au ucis pe Harry. Putem spune că trec printr-o stare incomodă sau că se simt ciudat, însă nu se simt vinovate și nu regretă ceea ce e posibil să fi făcut.
Într-un film obișnuit care se confruntă cu o crimă, ar fi apărut un inspector de poliție, care i-ar fi interogat pe acești oameni și ar fi început o investigație ca să afle cine este criminalul. Însă acest lucru nu se întâmplă aici, în lumea lui Hitchcock. Persoanele implicate nu sunt afectate că au lângă ele un cadavru. Ele pot discuta despre orice subiect lângă Harry, chiar dacă acesta din urmă este mort. Oare sunt toți niște monștri sau persoane care suferă de psihoză ?
