Vremuri întunecate, titlu original The Darkest Hour, este un film 3D ruso-american science fiction și horror, fiind regizat de Chris Gorak și produs de Timur Bekmambetov. Inițial, Vremuri întunecuate a fost gândit ca o trilogie, dar „succesul” la critică și încasările au făcut ca trilogia să fie anulată. De această dată, întreaga planetă e atacată de extratereștri „electrizanți”, acțiunea petrecându-se în capitala Rusiei, Moscova. De scenariu s-au ocupat Leslie Bohem, MT Ahern şi Jon Spaihts. Păcat de idee. Ar fi putut ieşi un film electrizant. Din păcat,e a ieşit ceva între: nici bun, dar nici prost. Ce mi-a plăcut la el a fost 3D-ul.
Doi tineri antreprenori de internet sosesc în mijlocul unei furtuni electrice misterioase în Moscova, ca să-şi urmeze visele de afaceri și să devină milionari. Dar planurile de acasă nu se potrivesc cu cele din târg, aceștia fiind fiind înșelați de antreprenorul suedez Skyler. Turistele Natalie şi Anne, rămase și ele în Moscova după o oprire neprevăzută în drum spre Nepal, profită din plin căutând aventura într-una din capitalele cu o renumită viaţă de noapte. Cele două perechi de prieteni foarte buni se întâlnesc în mijlocul strălucirii şi farmecului clubului de noapte Zvezda, un punct de atracţie pentru străinii şi frumoşii din Moscova, inclusiv pentru omul de afaceri suedez care i-a înşelat pe Sean şi Ben.
Acest club are de toate: muzica bună și supermodelele fiind un adevărat paradis pentru tinerii călători și pentru oamenii de afaceri. Dar clubul se transformă rapid într-o scenă de teroare când extratereştrii invadează şi totul se întunecă. După ce supravieţuiesc atacului iniţial ascunzându-se în subteran, la câteva zile mai târziu, cei cinci supraviețuitori:
Sean (Emilie Hirsch), cel mai bun prieten al lui Ben. Gândul său e doar la distracție;
Ben (Max Minghella) e cel care investit 12 mii de dolari în afacere. Acum cei 2 tineri dau de greu, văzând că în Rusia nu sunt în aceleași legi ca în America;
Skyler (Joel Kinnaman) e un tânăr afacerist suedez, ambițios, gata să facă orice pentru a fi în top;
Natalie (Olivia Thirlby) şi Anne (Rachael Taylor) cele mai bune prietene (BFF) care au rămas în Moscova după o oprire neprevăzută în drum spre Nepal;
ies la suprafaţă într-o Moscovă pustie, încercând să supraviețuiască unei forțe pe care nu o înțeleg. Singura problemă e faptul că Moscova nu este singurul oraș de pe Glob care a căzut victimă atacului extratereștrilor. Parisul, Londra, Tokyo, New York au fostși ele atacate. Aceștia ne-au atacat pentru minereurile conducătoare de electricitate. Făcuţi dintr-o energie electromagnetică, extratereștrii ucid cu brutalitate, spulberând formele terestre de viaţă reducându-le la cenușă. Aceștia au un atuu: sunt invizibili pentru oameni. Dar cu toate astea, orice semnal electric îi dă de gol. Pe timpul zilei e periculos, așa că tinerii hotărăsc să traverseze orașul până la ambasada americană pe timp de noapte. Dar… Se întâmplă exact ca atunci când mergi la piață. Ai un plan, dar când ajungi acolo trebuie schimbat pentru că socotela de acasă nu se potrivește cu cea din târg.
Un alt personaj pe care l-am apreciat e Vika (Veronika Ozerova), o supravieţuitoare a măcelului. Familia sa a fost măcelărită, dar ea se alătură grupului de americanii în lupta pentru supravieţuire.
Cu toate că nu e o capodoperă, pe unele locuri fiind chiar plicticos, Vremuri întunecate vă va capta atenția pentru o oră jumătate, finalul fiind cu adevărat surprinzător. Să vă spun cinstit, nici nu știu dacă merită vizionat 2D, pentru că 3D-ul și efectele speciale fac totul, actorii fiind în plan secund, în rolul principal fiind extratereștrii.
Ce spun critcii americani despre Vremuri întunecate?!
1. Jeannette Castsoulis de la New York Times e cea mai tranşantă:„ Dacă n-ai decât să ne ațâți cu niște jocuri de lumini timp de trei sferturi din film, ai face bine să ne pregătești ceva excepțional la final. Dar când nu ai altceva decât echivalentul unor pitici de grădină explodând, atunci problemele tale sunt mult mai mari, pe lângă niște actori de care te poți lipsi și un stil de filmare la fel de plat ca paleta de culori.”
2. John DeFore e la Hollywood Reporter nu are nici el o părere mai bună: „Un film despre invazia extratereștrilor care evident că așteaptă ca scenele cu Piața Roșie pustie să compenseze scenariul slab și absența măcar a unui singur personaj convingător.”
3. Michal Simms de la FilmInk spune: „În ciuda scenelor grandioase de pe străzile Moscovei, acest thriller sci-fi nu reușește să încânte din cauza personajelor prost construite, a lipsei suspansului și a regiei plictisitoare.”
Pe rottentomatoes.com, utilizatorii au dat un scor de 29%. Nici pe metacritic.com situaţia nu e mai bună, Vremuri întunecate acumulând 16%.
