Am o slăbiciune pentru fillmele în care protagoniștii caută să-și facă dreptate singuri, pentru că sistemul justițiar ori e incompetent, ori nu poate pedepsi mizeriile puse la cale de bănci sau companii uriașe. N-am văzut filmul original, deci voi scrie doar despre pelicula pe care Freeman Entertainment o va aduce în cinematografe începând cu data de 14 aprilie.
Când te apropii de vârsta de 80 de ani, tot ce vrei este să îți petreci ultimii ani liniștit, fără să-ți faci griji legate de bani. Dar când compania la care ai lucrat zeci de ani te trage pe sfoară și te lasă fără pensie, ce poți să faci? Ce resurse mai ai să te revolți? Dar Joe (Michael Caine), Willie (Morgan Freeman) și Al (Alan Arkin) sunt dispuși să riște tot ce mai au pentru a remedia nedreptatea pe care trebuie să o îndure.
Muschetari trecuți cu mult de prima tinerețe, cei trei prieteni hotărăsc să dea o spargere, folosind ca sursă de inspirație jaful de la începutul filmului la care Joe este martor. Prima lor încercare de a face o fărădelege se sfârșește în nori de făină și hohote de râs pentru public, care va ține cu improbabilii răufăcători de la început până la final. Viața e frumoasă când ai alături oameni care ar fi dispuși să-și riște și libertatea alături de tine, în numele dreptății. Nici nu mai contează ce vârstă ai, nu e niciodată prea târziu să o iei de la capăt sau să-ți ceri drepturile. Povestea nu încurajează furtul, ci adoptarea unei atitudini care să nu le permită altora să te calce în picioare. Mai ales când în joc sunt și viitorul celor pe care-i iubești: nepoți, copii, parteneri.
M-am dus la film pentru Morgan Freeman și am plecat acasă gândindu-mă la Alan Arkin, care-i dă viață celui mai pesimist și haios membru din această bandă de „nelegiuiți”. Nici măcar dragostea nu-l schimbă prea tare pe morocănul Al, mare amator de umor negru. Distribuția este extraordinară, reușind să armonizeze umorul excelent cu situațiile emoționante și amare.
