Filmările pentru “Maleficent II” – care le are ca protagoniste pe Angelina Jolie şi Elle Fanning – au început la Studiourile Pinewood şi în câteva locaţii din Marea Britanie. Noua producţie Disney vine în continuarea filmului din 2014, care s-a bucurat de un succes impresionant în rândul spectatorilor. Jolie, câştigătoarea unui premiu Oscar şi a trei Globuri de Aur, intră din nou în pielea personajului zânei misterioase şi întunecate, iar Elle Fanning o interpretează iar pe prinţesa Aurora.
Celor două actriţe li se alătură şi Michelle Pfeiffer, în rolul reginei Ingrith, precum şi Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay şi Harris Dickinson în rolul prinţului Phillip. Filmul este regizat de Joachim Rønning, cel care a regizat şi „Piraţii din Caraibe: Răzbunarea lui Salazar”, iar scenariul este realizat de Linda Woolverton (“Alice în Ţara Minunilor”, “Frumoasa şi Bestia”), Micah Fitzerman-Blue şi Noah Harpster. Jolie nu joacă numai rolul unui personaj-cheie în noua poveste, ci este şi producătoarea filmului, alături de Joe Roth.
Firul poveştii continuă după câţiva ani de unde ne-a lăsat primul film „Maleficent”, în care spectatorii au aflat cum şi de ce a ajuns zâna să fie unul dintre cele mai de temut personaje din Universul Disney, şi cum a ajuns să o blesteme pe micuţa Aurora. “Maleficent II” explorează relaţia complexă dintre zâna întunecată şi Aurora, în încercarea lor de a proteja creaturile magice din ţinut.
