Ca atare, am recomandat-o și o recomand tuturor ca fiind un excelent start de franciză, un început care să-i facă mândri pe cei care au contribuit la saga Harry Potter. Despre ce este vorba în acest spin-off? În primul rând, avem o locație nouă. New York-ul este de data aceasta scena unde se desfășoară acțiunea, anul fiind 1926, cu mult înainte de apariția familiei Potter. Se pare că o entitate misterioasă face probleme în oraș, amenințând să dea în vileag comunitatea de vrăjitori, inteligent ascunsă de ochii Nu-Magilor. Dar fanaticii de la Second Salemers par să fie pe urmele adevărului…
Pentru a pune capac situației, Geller Grindelwald, alt vrăjitor amator de magie neagră, face ravagii în Europa și la un moment dat… dispare. În acest context tulburător și plin de tensiune apare în scenă Newt Scamander, un magizoolog dedicat, dar cam stângaci. Printr-un amestec de întâmplări, din valiza sa magică ajung să scape câteva specimene fantastice, puse numai pe șotii. Încercarea de a le captura îi face pe Newt și noii săi prieteni să-și încrucișeze traiectoria cu cea a Aurorilor MACUSA, cei care încearcă să elucideze misterul distrugerilor din New York. Distribuția
Când ai oameni precum Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller și Colin Farrell în echipă, te aștepți ca rolurile să fie excelente. Ceea ce face ca filmul să fie frumos însă este cât de buni sunt și ceilalți actori mai puțin populari sau în roluri mai mărunte, fiecare având bucățica lui de expus. Pe Katherine Waterston n-o știam așa bine, dar m-a cucerit complet cu ochii ei de ciută. Dan Fogler este cel mai amuzant om din tot filmul, de la grimase și sunete scoase până la replici. Iar pe Alison Sudol o iubeam fără să știu: ea e A Fine Frenzy, o cântăreață minunată care joacă și bine de tot.
Amprenta lui J.K. Rowling
Acesta a fost debutul scriitoarei ca scenaristă, ea ocupându-se de la cap la coadă de povestea care avea să ne teleporteze din nou în magicul univers al vrăjitorilor. Nu spun că scenariile pentru Harry Potter n-au fost reușite, nici pe departe. Dar parcă aici s-a văzut că mintea care a copt toate aceste povești a fost și cea din spatele peliculei. Animale fantastice și unde le poți găsi debordează de imaginație și de detalii minunate, te îndrăgostești de această poveste.
Temele folosite sunt și noi, și clasice: accentul cade din nou pe prietenie, pe legăturile dintre oameni, pe cei excluși și stigmatizați, dar tonul poveștii este mult mai întunecat, avem cazuri de abuz, durere reprimată și teroare, avem un război care mocnește între Nu-Magi și vrăjitori. Filmul te satisface și ca stand-alone, și ca început de franciză, pentru că ai suficiente fire narative de care să te agăți ca să pășești într-un nou episod aventuros.
Umbra lui Grindelwald
Ca în cazul lui Harry Potter, avem un vrăjitor căruia îi place magia neagră și al cărui spectru plutește deasupra întregii acțiuni. Datorită lui Grindelwald, resimțim din nou o prezență malefică, dar nedefinită, care ne face să fim mereu cu ochii în patru. Cu siguranță acest vrăjitor va avea multe de spus în această nouă franciză, să vedem dacă și parcursul lui va fi la fel de interesant construit. Oricum ar fi, e un element promițător al noii povești.
Nu-Magii sunt mai importanți în poveste tocmai pentru că relaționarea cu ei e interzisă
Nu-Magii sunt de fapt Încuiații, până și terminologia folosită diferită subliniind raporturile complet diferite prezente în cele două dimensiuni ale universului vrăjitorilor. Dacă în HP, Încuiații nu sunt prea importanți, deși le este permis vrăjitorilor să aibă relații cu astfel de oameni neînzestrați, în SUA, lucrurile stau cu totul altfel. Vrăjitorii nu au voie să se apropie de Nu-Magi, darămite să se căsătorească sau să aibă copii împreună. Tocmai asta face ca acțiunea întreprinsă de fanaticii de la Second Salemers să aibă un aer atât de proaspăt. În plus, includerea lui Jacob Kowalski, amuzantul și naivul brutar Nu-Mag, în misiunea lui Newt de a-și regăsi animalele este o decizie mai mult decât fericită. Deși personajele riscă mult cu această mișcare, tu te simți extraordinar de bine când vezi că toleranța este la mare preț și în această poveste.
Umorul nebun al poveștii
Fie că e vorba de Jacob, care e și fără să vrea amuzant, fie că e vorba de animăluțele extraordinare ale lui Newt, filmul e plin de scene haioase. Niffler, cel mai simpatic și hoțoman din toată valiza lui Newt, dă naștere unor situații grozave, te prăpădești de râs când vezi cum încearcă vrăjitorul și Nu-Magul să prindă un ghem de blană care vrea să pună lăbuța pe orice sclipește. Cursa de la grădina zoologică, încercarea de a prinde Occamy-ul, scena din rău famatul The Blind Pig sau discuțiile lui Newt cu Pickett demonstrează cât poate să fie de haioase animalele atunci când nu vor să fie prinse.
Efectele vizuale încântătoare
