Îmi plac filmele de groază de când mă știu, mai ales dacă le vizionez în companie bună. Iar dacă le mai văd și la cinema, unde imaginile mă atacă prin dimensiune și claritate, iar sunetul îmi face pielea de găină, și mai bine. Am avut ocazia să urmăresc The Lazarus Effect, adus în România de InterComFilm, care îl va lansa oficial în cinematografe începând cu data de 27 februarie. V-au plăcut Insidious și Paranormal Activity? Dacă da, ăsta e filmul pe care veți dori să-l vedeți la cinema. Deși pe IMDb apare doar încadrat la categoria thriller, vă spun eu sigur că e și horror. Imaginați-vă doar: laborator, halate albe, multe ustensile prea periculoase, ace, o echipă tânără și prea cutezătoare și vietăți readuse la viață. Ca Lazarus. Adică Lazăr, cel pe care Iisus l-a adus din nou printre cei vii, după ce fusese mort timp de 4 zile. În general, oamenii se sperie mai tare de chestiile care bat la ochi, gen fantome, ochi negri de demoni, oameni posedați, mult sânge, vampiri și altele de genul. Când, de fapt, cei mai horror sunt aceia care, sub masca inocenței și normalității, torturează, omoară, violează victime din pură plăcere sau de amorul artei, cum am zice. Sau poate vor să devină faimoși. În acest film, groaza este provocată de transformarea lui Zoe (Olivia Wilde), care este readusă la viață după ce moare electrocutată în laborator. Dar, odată cu ea, se deschide și o poartă spre iad. Îți trebuie ceva curaj să privești o asemenea certitudine dezastruoasă în față.
Serul Lazarus, creat de Zoe și echipa sa, poate aduce la viață ființe care au murit. În primul rând, avem ideea care stă la baza scenariului scris de Luke Dawson și Jeremy Slater: un ser care să aducă oamenii înapoi la viață, dar care le poate afecta viețile și mințile mult prea mult pentru a risca administrarea lui. David Gelb, regizorul, jonglează foarte bine cu aceste întrebări absolut imposibile, care îți dau bătăi de cap numai cât le auzi. În al doilea rând, mi-a plăcut ideea de a plasa întreaga acțiune într-un laborator, atmosfera și locul sunt atât de sumbre, mai ales când luminile se sting și se aprind, încât îți vin fiori pe șira spinării. Starea aceea de teamă, paranoia, de suflet care-ți stă în gât e indusă cumva și de spațiul mic în care cei 5 protagoniști rămân închiși, incapabili de a mai evada. Unii din acel loc, alții din propriile amintiri. E greu să mai speri că va scăpa cineva cu viață dintr-un spațiu așa restrâns, atunci când personajul negativ e incredibil de puternic, iar oamenii de rând sunt atât de fragili. În plus, regizorul a știut cum să se joace cu cadrele în așa fel încât să bage frica în cinefili de mai multe ori, fie prin prim-planuri șocante, fie prin jocul de lumini și umbre. Și oglinzi, astea chiar devin înspăimântătoare când ai de-a face cu forțe supranaturale. Pe mine, cel puțin, mă duc mereu cu gândul la porți spre alte lumi sau la cuști atemporale în care rămân blocate momente și amintiri ale celui care se privește.
Dar asta ți se întâmplă după ani și ani de urmărit seriale și filme horror, când ajungi să urăști păpușile, cutiuțele muzicale și orice alt element ce poate găzdui forțe malefice, haha. În al treilea rând, avem sunetul: acesta este un avantaj foarte mare pentru un astfel de film, dacă cei responsabili de acest departament știu să-l folosească în favoarea lor. Trăirile pe care le resimți văzând Efectul Lazarus sunt intensificate de sunetele care-ți atacă simțurile, fie că e vorba de muzica de operă pe care Zoe o ascultă când lucrează, fie că e vorba de obiecte care cad, țipete care sfâșie noaptea, sticlă care se sparge sau, culmea, tăcere absolută, liniștea de dinaintea furtunii. Am tresărit de câteva ori în scaun din cauza a ceea se auzea, mai că-mi venea să mă cațăr pe spătar sau să-mi ascund fața. Dar eram hipnotizată de ochii Oliviei Wilde. Care e cu siguranță un motiv bun să mergi la film, pentru că știe cum să fie și dulce, și tocilară, și prefăcută, și înfricoșătoare. Îi stă super în halat alb, dar când transformarea o duce la polul opus, preschimbând-o în pacientă, parcă ți se ridică părul pe mână, știi deja că s-a schimbat peisajul, mai că-ți vine să crezi că ai nimerit la un spital de nebuni.
