Heath Ledger a impresionat prin Jokerul său şi mă gândeam cum va reuşi Joaquin să se apropie de perfecţiunea stabilită de Ledger. După vizionare, trebuie să recunosc că Joaquin Phoenix mi-a depăşit cu mult aşteptările, reuşind să ne facă să uităm complet cine este şi să îl vedem pe Joker, doar pe Joker.
Bolile mintale, deţinerea armelor, degradarea apatică a societăţii, prăpastia dintre bogaţi şi săraci, toate aceste probleme fac din societate un mediu greu de respirat şi dificil de acceptat.
Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) trece printr-o criză. Bolnav mintal, el trăieşte împreună cu mama sa, care prezintă afecţiuni similare.
Arthur lucrează ca clovn şi îi place foarte mult ceea ce place. Se bucură că are şansa să distreze oamenii şi să îi facă să zâmbească. Visul lui este să devină un adevărat comediant, însă bariera lui principală constituie o tulburare incontrolabilă, anume: un râs puternic şi imposibil de gestionat. Gotham City se confruntă cu o situaţie de criză. Rata criminalităţii a crescut, oamenii sunt nefericiţi, oraşul este apăsat de o stare de tensiune şi teroare.
Miliardarul Thomas Wayne (Brett Cullen) intenţionează să candideze în funcţia de primar pentru a restabili ordinea în oraş.
O zi foarte grea la locul de muncă schimbă totul pentru Arthur. El se hotărăşte să lupte împotriva celor care i-au făcut rău şi, datorită aceste decizii, capătă încredere în propriile forţe.

Atât Todd Phillips, cât şi scenariul Scott Silver, nu văd niciun alt destin pentru Joker. Joker este produsul violenţei care a pus stăpânire pe Gotham City. Bineînţeles că nu toţi devin maniaci, dar bolile mintale netratate duc zilnic la tragedie, mai ales atunci când sunt implicate arme de foc.
Joaquin Phoenix va fi aproape imposibil de învins în sezonul premiilor.
