Toată lumea iubește cultura pop a anilor 80. Iar asta se simte intens în ultimii ani în tot ceea ce privește…cultura pop actuală să-i zice? – cu precădere în filme. Ready Player One, care are premiera pe 30 martie în cinematografe, ar putea fi cel mai actual film nostlagic care cinstește anii 80 și nu numai. Vertical Entertainment a organizat vizionarea de presă în sala IMAX din AFI Palace Cotroceni, locul în care un astfel de film este experimentat așa cum este menit.
Când ai văzut ultima oară un film regizat de Steven Spielberg? Da, acel Spielberg de ale cărui filme te-ai bucurat când erai mic a regizat adaptarea cinematografică a cărții SF Ready Player One. Ernest Cline, scriitorul cărții apărute în 2011 (2016 la noi la editura Nemira, cu o reeditare apărută acum odată cu filmul), a participat activ la scenariul filmului, alături de Zak Penn. Așa că, nu prea poți spune că inevitabilele diferențe față de narațiunea cărții și simplificări ale poveștii au fost împotriva viziunii autorului. Din păcate nu am apucat să termin de citit romanul până să ajung la film, abia aflându-mă după primul sfert de pagini, însă am aflat deja de câteva modificări mari pe care le cred justificate. Plănuiesc (dar nu promit!) să revin și cu o comparație carte vs. film cât mai curând.
Într-un viitor apropiat și regretabil de plauzibil, umanitatea a distrus climatul și a rămas fără petrol. În foamete și sărăcia, cea mai bună evadare din realitate este OASIS, o realitate virtuală răspândită și accesibilă pe tot globul în care poți fi cine vrei și să faci ce poftești pe miile de planete puse la dispoziție de acest joc online. Creatorul jocului, James Halliday, moare fără moștenitor însă nu înainte de a lăsa drept testament cel mai râvnit premiu al jocului – control deplin asupra OASIS. Iar Ben Mendelsohn este surprinzător de amumuzant în rolul răufăcătorului principal Sorrento însă parcă acțiunile sale nu sunt justificate până la capăt. Subalternii săi din cadrul corporației IOI (care îmi place s-o pronunț ca ardelenii) par adesea incapabili, uneori enervanți pentru cunoscătorii de jocuri video, dar asta face parte din umorul filmului.
Evident, Spielberg a pus la cale un film de care se vor bucura cu precădere publicul tânăr, în maniere diferite, de la 10 la 30 de ani. Gamer fiind, am rezonat foarte bine cu lumea filmului, chiar dacă rar bântui lumile online deschise către toată lumea. Povestea, ilustrată cu o grafică digitală atât de frumoasă, completată de o coloană sonoră pe măsură, te atrage în așa măsură încât te încântă chiar dacă nu exclami la fiecare minut recunoscând cine știe ce personaj din alte filme sau jocuri, sub forma unuia din jucătorii care populează OASIS. Filmul lui Spielberg are esența filmelor sale vechi iar eu consider asta un mare plus. Este deopotrivă o peliculă nostalgică și actuală în același timp. Este un film actual, culmea, prin această nostalgie față de anii 80 care ne-a infectat pe toți. Dar și pentru că tratează un subiect larg discutat, și anume realitatea virtuală și cum ne afectează aceasta viața socială. Știm unde să ne oprim din jucat, cu tehnologia actuală din ce în ce mai îmbietoare? O tehnologie care ne atrage tocmai fiincă ne dorim atât de mult să fugim de realitatea pe care o neglijăm, o realitate care devine din ce în ce mai urătă pe măsură ce încercăm să fugim de ea – ironic.
Lăsând filosofia și mesajul filmului la o parte, Ready Player One nu trebuie ratat de nici un iubitor de filme. În ciuda clișeelor greu de evitat și a persojelor nedezolvtate, Ready Player One este o aventură care te întinerește, o adevărată plăcere de gustat în 3D și care nu este o exclusivitate pentru cunoscătorii culturii pop. Este genul de film pentru care iubesc să merg la film. Până acum este preferatul meu anul acesta, chiar dacă nu l-aș considera neapărat cel mai bun. Cu siguranță am să-l revăd cu plăcere.
