Fiind un împătimit admirator al mașinilor performante, turbo, cu 8 sau 12 cilindri, Randal „Memphis” Raines știe și iubește fiecare șurub, fiecare părticică și fiecare piesă cromată. Dar Kip devine la rândul său hoț de mașini. După un jaf care nu decurge conform planului, viața sa e amenințată. Memphis e abordat de vechiul său prieten Atley care îl roagă să revină pentru a-l scoate pe Kip din încurcătură. Astfel Mephis revine la vechea sa viață străbătând străzile ca o furtună, pentru a înfăptui un ultim furt. Dar nu orice furt: are de furat 50 de mașini de colecție în 72 de ore (3 zile). Astfel noua și vechea generație de hoți de mașini se unesc pentru furtul mileniului. Dar care sunt cele 50 de mașini, anul fabricației și numele de cod?

Will Patton e Atley Jackson un fost hoț de mașini șchiop care a fost partener cu Memphis, dar care acum lucrează pentru Raymond Calitri;
Christopher Eccleston e Raymond „Tâmplarul” Calitri. El e cel care conduce afacerile în Los Angeles. E un fel de „Satana s-a abătut peste Long Beach”;
Chi McBride e Donny Astricky, cel mai bun prieten al lui Memphis. Acesta și-a pus ordine în viață. A devenit instructor auto dar nu e deloc fericit cu viața lui. Când Memphis îi cere ajutorul, acesta nu ezită să i-l ofere;
Nicolas Cage e și în viața reală un adevărat colecționar de mașini. Dar nu a fost atras de acest rol datorită acestei pasiuni, ci și datorită scenariului dinamic. Will Patton e perfect în rolul lui Atley. El este amintirea întunecată a trecutului care s-a întors să-i spună lui Memphis să meargă înapoi în iad. Relația dintre Memphis și Otto este asemănătoare uneia dintre tată și fiu, cel de-al doilea constituind sursa de cunoștințe și organizare a întregului grup.
Pentru Dominic Sena cel mai greu a fost să creeze „ceva” ce publicul nu a mai văzut până atunci. O parte importantă a filmului sunt scenele de urmăriri. Scenele de urmăriri sunt ca și cele de dragoste, ceea ce-l impresionează pe un om iar pe celălalt îl lasă rece. Nu sunt un mare fan al mașinilor dar pot să vă spun că scenele de urmăriri sunt palpitante și vă vor ține „cu sufletul la gură” Cel mai mult mi-a plăcut mi-a plăcut ultima urmărire, cea în care Memphis trebuie s-o ducă pe Eleanor în port.
Ultima scenă s-a filmat pe podul Vincent Thomas. Marea săritură a fost filmată dintr-o varietate de unghiuri. La scena în care se urcă pe trailer și sare, mașina sare de fapt doar 15 metri și aterizează într-un perete de cutii de carton care avea 3 de metri înălțime și 30 de metri lungime ca să oprească mașina. Apoi s-au folosit de efectele speciale pentru a răta mașina zburând prin aer, deasupra podului. Aterizarea a fost reală fiind efectuată de un cascador care sare de pe o rampă și care aterizează de la 7 metri. Mașina a fost dotată cu suspensii foarte puternice pentru a rezista șocului. Aterizarea care o veți vedea e cât se poate de reală.
Dispari în 60 de secunde s-a lansat în România pe DVD și Blu-ray. Pe blu-ray ca bonus puteți viziona Marele salt, care e subtitrat în limba română.
