Genul horror/thriller a avut pe parcursul anului curent parte de niște suprize tare plăcute și foarte bune (Split și Get Out) dar și de nelipsitele filme de duzină de care îți vine să râzi (Bye Bye Man). Era cazul să apară și ceva decent, ca Annabelle 2, numit și Annabelle: Creation. O producție Warner Bros. distribuită de Vertical Entertainment pe care am vizionat-o la Grand Cinema.
Apropo, am avut ocazia la lansare să încerc și aplicația VR dedicată promovării filmului. O experiență faină prin care merită să treci, chit că nu te sperie.
Acest nou capitol din universul The Conjuring este prequel pentru primul Annabelle, deci dacă nu l-ai văzut până acum s-ar putea ca ordinea mai bună să fie aceea în care vezi întâi filmul nou. Așa cum sugerează și titlul, scenariul își propune să-ți prezinte originile păpușii Annabelle, pe care ai întâlnit-o de fapt prima oară în primul The Conjuring. De această dată de regie s-a ocupat David F. Sandberg (Lights Out), un regizor cu potențial de care genul horror are nevoie.
Povestea se petrece într-un context destul de macabru. În anii 1950, la doisprezece ani după moartea fetiţei lor, un păpuşar şi soţia sa se hotărăsc să găzduiască în casa lor un grup de orfane împreună cu o călugăriţă care le supraveghează. Casa, evident, are părți care-i conferă o atmosferă înfiorătoare. Nu după mult timp, încep să se întâmple lucruri stranii iar fetele devin ţinta infamei păpuşi posedate, Annabelle.
M-a încântat ritmul în care progresează evenimentele, cu prima întâlnire cu spiritul demonic încă din prima jumătate de oră (filmul are aproape două ore). Teroarea crește în intensitate, cum este și firesc, pe măsură ce filmul se apropie de final. Nu aș fi tolerat expozițiuni prelungite.
Totuși, sperieturile nu sunt prea tari. Sunt șanse să nu tresari la aproape nimic. Însă în ceea ce privește tensiunea și atmosfera, filmul mi s-a părut mai reușit decât The Conjuring 2, unde, la fel, nu m-am mișcat. Dacă însă te-ai cufunda în poveste și ai privi evenimentele din ochii fetițelor, totul devine semnificativ mai terifiant. Alături de mine am avut un public distrat, care chicotea la orice fază și în afara ultimei jumătăți de oră (cea mai bună activă parte a filmului) se auzea un murmur de sugestii pentru scenariu. Așa că mi-a fost cam dificil să îmi concentrez empatia asupra personajelor.
Chiar dacă ai mai întâlnit mai toate elementele care au rol să-ți dea fiori (precum apariții demonice, întuneric, păpuși criminale sau teama de fi în scaun cu rotile atunci când ești urmărit), acestea sunt folosite eficient în film.
Mie, de fapt, mi-a plăcut. Nu mă așteptam să mă sperie dar oricum nici nu prea mai am pretenția aceasta de la filmele horror. Poate de la IT luna viitoare, care arată mare potențial în trailer.
Cum este Annabelle: Creation, pe scurt? Inovativ? Nu prea. Distractiv? Destul de. Realizat cum trebuie? Cu certitudine. Cei care apreciază genul horror și fanii filmelor The Conjuring n-au voie să-l rateze. Filmul este creativ în anumite momente dar nu peste măsură, așa că e bine să n-ai așteptări mari. Așteaptă-te în schimb să te simți bine.
Nu uita să stai după genericul de final, dacă vrei un mic teaser pentru filmul de The Nun, următorul film din serie – de altfel, sugerat și într-o scenă din film, dacă ești atent.
